SIGHTINGS

The oceanographic and meteorological conditions of the strait of Gibraltar make it an ideal place for certain cetaceans to live in their seas.
The encounter between the Mediterranean sea and the Atlantic ocean, which favors the proliferation of plankton, and the abundant flora and fauna of the area make the Strait a wonderful habitat for these marine animals.
On the one hand, swimming in its waters we can find two resident species that are present throughout the year, such as dolphins and pilot whales.
And, on the other hand, there are several migratory species, which we see more frequently during seasonal periods such as spring and summer. However, they can also be observed crossing the Strait for the rest of the year. In this case, we refer to orcas, sperm whales and rorquals.
Don’t forget your camera and enjoy these beautiful animals close by!
